Energy Estate, Kākāriki Renewables and NZ Bio Forestry sign MoU to revitalise forestry hubs through clean energy and bioindustry

Energy Estate, Kākāriki Renewables and NZ Bio Forestry have signed a non binding MOU to explore combining renewable energy, forestry biomass and infrastructure into integrated bio industrial precincts, aiming to revitalise forestry hubs for advanced manufacturing and regional development.

The work will involve site assessments, feasibility studies, master planning and stakeholder engagement, with Kākāriki’s ‘Te Kupenga a Māui’ framework linking generation at Whakatāne and Reporoa to demand at Kaingaroa village, Kawerau, and Rotorua.

MoU with PTS Powerco Transmission Services for renewable and storage connections

Kākāriki Renewables and PTS Powerco Transmission Services have signed a strategic MoU to accelerate New Zealand’s clean energy transition. Under the agreement, PTS Energy will design, build, and operate the network connection infrastructure—including substations, transmission lines, and grid-scale battery storage—for Kākāriki’s portfolio of renewable projects across New Zealand. This partnership allows Kākāriki to focus on developing large-scale wind, solar, and storage assets aligned with its “600% Renewables” vision, while PTS ensures reliable, long-term connectivity.
